Foods that improve sight: Sight is one of the senses that animals have. Sight enables animals to perceive their environments. Without sight, everything around animals is dark. Humans usually pay little attention to their sight. However, serious attention is given to sight at the slightest sign of a faulty sight. 

 

Animals use the eye to see. The eye is a very complex sense organ. Several factors can cause the eye to develop a problem. The factors can be classified generally into genetic factors, environmental factors, and lifestyle factors. Mostly, a faulty sight is an indication that the eye is developing a problem. Several parts of the eye can develop a problem. 

 

The retina, the cornea, the lens, etc are all parts of the eye that could become faulty and thereby lead to faulty sight. Also, a family history of sight problems is equally common. Lifestyle factors such as eating and exercise habits can also contribute to faulty sight.

1. Fish: Fishes are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are the major makeup of the eye’s retina. The retina is the tissue layer behind the eye which senses light. The function of the retina includes signaling the brain what you see. Consuming a lot of the primary makeup of the retina will mean a continuous replenishment of the cells in the retina. Omega-3 fatty acid is therefore important for the eye’s health and sight especially. Anyone who does not consume enough fish means he or she is voluntarily denying himself or herself the needed repair of the retina. 

 

2. Green leafy vegetables: Green leafy vegetables contain packs of lutein and zeaxanthin. Lutein is sometimes considered an eye vitamin. Lutein as an antioxidant is used in the treatment of eye conditions. Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in high concentrations in the macular and retina of the eye. They protect the eye from sunlight damage. Lutein and zeaxanthin protect the eye from free radicals in the eye.

 

3. Eggs: Eggs are one food that contains a lot of nutrients and vitamins. The egg is home to lutein as well. As indicated earlier, avoiding food ingredients that contain nutrients that are beneficial to the eye is tantamount to personal negligence. Lutein and zeaxanthin are both able to protect the eye from free radicals and sunlight. 

 

4. Whole grain: Vitamin E, zinc, and niacin are found in whole grains. They are found in substantial quantities. Also, high concentrations of zinc, Vitamin E, and niacin are found in the retina and choroid. Consuming whole grain will very much supply the needed quantities of zinc, vitamin E, and niacin to parts of the eye that needed them. The way to consume whole grains is to substitute the whole grain for starchy carbohydrates. 

 

5. Fruits: Fruits contain a high concentration of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. Apart from the role vitamin plays in the immune system of humans, vitamin C also plays an important role in maintaining the health of the eyes. Vitamin protects the eye from cataracts and macular degeneration which are mostly related to age. 

 

6. Nuts: Nuts are equally rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. The retina of the eye is primarily made up of omega-3 fatty acids. The retina senses light and signals the brain about the image for recognition. Therefore, consuming enough nuts will supply enough omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E to function

 

7. Legumes: Rich in zinc and bioflavonoids, legumes boast as one of the foods to look out for to boost sight. The retina and several parts of the eye need enough zinc to function properly. Bioflavonoids which are equally found in high quantities in legumes are useful in the prevention of ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy.
